The International Academy of Rheology by Anton Paar offers you the opportunity to broaden your knowledge and to improve your skills in the field of rheology.
1. Introduction
This workshop aims to introduce how rheological tests can be useful for calculating the shear rate which will affect a paint or coating sample during application, evaluating whether the viscosity values of a paint or coating will fit the requirements after application, and to measure the long-term storage stability of paints and coatings.
2. Target Groups
QC operators, formulation chemists, and technicians looking for an exciting introduction into measuring paints and coatings using rheometry. Also ideal for those who want a refresher on rheology.
3. Contents
• Basics of Rheology and viscous behaviour
• Simple viscosity tests
• Rheometers and measuring systems
• Flow behaviour and yield point
• Oscillatory / Dynamic Rheology
• Viscoelastic behaviour
• Definitions: shear strain, deformation, shear modulus
• Amplitude and frequency sweeps
• Time, temperature and humidity dependent behaviour
4. About the speaker
Dr. Ashish Kumar is Sales & Product Manager (Business Unit Characterisation) at Anton Paar Australia and Anton Paar New Zealand. The Characterisation portfolio includes Rheometry, Mechanical Surface Testing, Particle Characterisation, Surface Area and Porosity, Raman Spectroscopy , XRD and SAXS. He is responsible for technical support, application testing, product management and marketing activities for the different product lines, and has been since 2013. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from The University of Melbourne (Australia) and has 14 years of rheology experience, five of those in the field of mineral processing and tailings disposal
